Italy is known for some of the oldest universities in the world. The country offers numerous options for international students and provides a choice between institutions that include state universities, private universities, and technical universities. The institutes follow a five-year education system with 3 years for a bachelor\u2019s degree and 2 years for a master\u2019s degree.<\/p>

The universities in Italy offer four categories of courses:<\/p>

  • University diploma<\/li>
  • Bachelor of Arts\/ Science<\/li>
  • Research doctorate<\/li>
  • Diploma of Specialization<\/li><\/ul>

    Italy like all the other European countries follows the Bologna system.<\/p>

    Italian language requirement<\/h5>

    Though international students can enroll for courses taught in English, it is beneficial if they learn the Italian language. This will help them communicate with the local community and get familiar with the local culture.<\/p>

    Student accommodation and living costs:<\/b><\/p>

    Accommodation costs like rental rates are higher in bigger cities than in smaller cities. When choosing to study here students must consider living costs that include food, transportation, and social activities. Again, these costs are higher in bigger cities like Milan and Rome.<\/p>

    Italy Student Visa Requirements<\/h5>

    Non-EU nationals require a student visa to study here. There are two types of student visas in Italy based on the duration of the study program:<\/p>

    • Visa type C: Short-stay visa or travel visa valid for one or more entries and for a period not exceeding 90 days<\/li>
    • Visa type D: Long-stay visa valid for more than 90 days<\/li><\/ul>
      Italy Study Visa required documents:<\/h5>
      • Passport valid for at least three months after the expected end date of your study program<\/li>
      • Completed visa application form<\/li>
      • Proof of having the required financial resources to cover your living expenses during your course of study<\/li>
      • Medical insurance policy<\/li>
      • Certificate of acceptance from the educational institution in Italy<\/li>
      • Details of tuition fee payments<\/li>
      • Copy of your itinerary to and from the country<\/li>
      • Proof of having no criminal record<\/li>
      • Proof of language proficiency in Italian or English based on the medium of instruction of your course<\/li><\/ul>
        Working while you study<\/h5>

        Students from non-EU countries can work here during their course if they have a work permit. This requires a job offer from an Italian employer.
