Australia Visit Visa Details:

The Australia Visit Visa is used by visiting individuals, families and businesspersons to facilitate short travel and tourism to Australia. There are three major subtypes of this visa:
  • Tourist visitor: Someone visiting Australia for leisure and recreation or to meet friends and family. You can apply for this from outside or within Australia
  • Business visitor: For businesspersons making short business trips for business, negotiations or to attend events. You must apply for this from outside Australia
  • Sponsored family visitor- For family members outside Australia who are sponsored for a visit visa by an Australian citizen or permanent resident
Visitor visas of longer duration are issued to parents of Australian citizens and Permanent Residents. Processing time:
  • Tourist visitor- 75% of applications: 21 days/90% of applications: 34 days
  • Business visitor- 75% of applications: 21 days/90% of applications: 34 days
  • Sponsored family visitor – 75% of applications: 54 days/90% of applications: 64 days
Processing time of visit visas are dependent on several factors:
  • You must have submitted all the required supporting documents when submitting your application
  • Your response time to requests for additional information
  • Time taken by the authorities to complete the required checks on the information in your application
  • Time taken to receive additional information pertaining to your health, character and national security
  • Decision to accept or refuse your visa application will be based on the information and documents you provide
It is advisable to make your visa application well in advance of your travel date and not make any travel arrangements till your visa is granted. Key points to note about this visa are:
  • You cannot work on this visa
  • This visa allows you to travel and stay across Australia
  • The visa is typically issued for a period between 3 months to one year

Documents required for Australia visitor visa

To apply for the Australia Visit Visa, applicants must:
  • Show that they have sufficient funds to cover their trip costs for the duration of their visit
  • Have no criminal record and must comply with all Australian laws
  • Meet all health standards and submit medical records as necessary
  • Show valid documentation and invitation letters from sponsors
  • Meet any other requirements asked for
  • Valid passport
  • Recent passport size colored photographs
  • Confirmed return air tickets
  • Trip itinerary
  • Bank statements for the last 6 months
  • Travel insurance

FAQ

If your visa has expired within the previous 28 days, you will have to apply for a Bridging Visa E [BVE] at once in order to remain lawful in Australia. With a BVE temporary visa, you can remain lawful while you make arrangements to leave.

For staying lawfully in Australia, you will have to apply for a new visa.

If you have been laid off and are not employed at the moment, you should find another employer within 60 days. Arrangements to leave Australia must be made, wherever possible, if you can’t find a new employer.

Those stood down and with Temporary Skills Shortage visa [subclass 482] or Temporary Work [Skilled] visa [subclass 457] will maintain their visa validity. Businesses can extend their visas as per normal arrangements. Work hours can also be reduced without the visa holder being in breach of visa conditions.

You can stay in Australia for 12 months to 4 years depending on the category of your Work Visa. If it is under the RSMS or ENS, you can stay indefinitely as long as you remain sponsored under these schemes.

The requirements to work in Australia through the Skilled Visa are:

  • You must be below 45 years when you apply
  • You must possess adequate ability in the English language for working in Australia, minimum a competent level
  • Your nominated skilled occupation suiting your qualifications and skills must be found on the SOL
  • Your skills must be assessed by the assessing authority in Australia designated to assess your nominated occupation before you apply
  • You must have reasonably good health and get your health assessed by a panel doctor by undergoing a medical examination
  • You must have good character and this also will be assessed

•    You must pass the Points test with a minimum of 65 points

In case of Nurses the IELTS (academic module) with a minimum overall score of 7 and a minimum score of 7 in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking) to apply for registration as an enrolled nurse. Applicants can also undergo OET, TOEFL or PTE (Academic) English tests.

IELTS is the key language test whose score is considered as evidence of your proficiency in the English language. This is if you are immigrating to Australia from India or from another nation. You must have good IELTS score as English is the primary language of Australia.

Alternatively, applicants have an option of taking up PTE (Academic) or TOEFL or OET or CAE English Tests as well as per the requirements of the respective authorities under skilled migration.

The Australia Work Visa processing times will again depend on the category of Visa that you have applied. It will also depend on other factors that include:
