Today, the Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced an Express Entry draw for candidates involved in the Provincial Nominee Program.
Today’s draw (143) was held at 14:31:00 UTC. 118 candidates received an invitation to apply (ITA) that had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 808. An increase of 110 points compared to the previous Provincial Nominee Program draw held on April 9th.
The CRS score may seem high but candidates with a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 CRS points which explain the spike in required points.
Today’s draw brings the total number of ITAs issued in 2020 to 26,618. This signifies that despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Canada is committed to reaching its immigration targets for 2020. Compared to 2019 and 2018, the number of ITAs issued in 2020 so far is greater than the years before.
IRCC applied its tie-breaking rule with the timestamp of March 18, 2020 at 10:30:55 UTC. This simply means that all candidates with a CRS score of 808 or above, and previous candidates with a score of 808 or above who entered their profile in the Express Entry pool before the selected tie-breaking date and time will receive an invitation in this round.
